Philadelphia Police Officer shot during an ambush in the name of Islam

Friday January 8, 2016 – Philadelphia Officer Jesse Hartnett was shot at thirteen (13) times while sitting in his squad car, by Edward Archer.  Hartnett was able to shoot the thirty (30) year-old suspect three (3) times, during the ambush.

Three (3) bullets hit Office Hartnett, breaking his arm.  Hartnet is out of surgery and is alert.

At the time of the incident Archer was wearing a Muslim garb.

The suspect is at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and said he committed the crime in the name of Islam.

Edward Archer used a stolen police firearm to carry out the attack.

Officials are referring to this crime as a potential terror attack.

The incident took place Thursday.
