Four Charged In The Ditch Burning Of A Black Man

Access Unlocked Thursday September 24, 2020 On September 16, the body of Michael Ronnell Williams a black man, was found burning in a ditch located in Grinnell, Iowa.

Julie Cox, Cody Johnson, and Roy Lee Garner have been charged with abuse of a corpse, while Steven Vogel has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

Johnson stated, he was asked to help dump the body on September 13.

According to reports Vogel kept the body of Williams in the basement of the home he shared with Cox and Garner for several days, before dumping the body in a ditch.

After reviewing the evidence, authorities and the NAACP do not believe the murder is race related.
