Authorities announced today, fifty (50) people including fashion designer
Mossimo Giannulli, actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin have been charged in bribery and money laundering scheme, to ensure their child’s admission to elite colleges.
Others arrested in the scandal include three (3) of the organizers, two (2) SAT and ACT administrators, nine (9) coaches and one (1) exam proctor.
Coaches were bribed to accept student under false pretenses. Some of the students were identified as competitive athletes, who were not. Students who did not participate in sports, were classified as athletes.
The investigation also uncovered cheating on the SAT and ACT.
Approximately 300 FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation agents, worked on the ten (10) month sting, known as Operation Varsity Blues.
Parents spent anywhere from $200K to 6 million dollars to guarantee their child admissions in to schools such as Harvard, Stanford and Georgetown.
The FBI has named William Singer, as the mastermind behind the scheme.
Singer is the CEO of The Edge College and Career Network a college counseling and preparation company.
It has been reported that the fifty-nine (59) year-old, warned people about the investigation. Racketeering conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy are some of the charges Singer faces.
Mossimo Giannulli is the husband of Lori Loughlin.
