News Now: Georgia inmate Kelly Gissandaner was executed after three (3) plea denials and efforts by Pope Francis

Wednesday September 30, 2015 – At 12:12 a.m ET, Kelly Gissendaner forty-seven (47), was put to death by the state of Georgia, for the 1997 murder plot of her husband Douglas Gissendaner.  Gissendaner was the mastermind behind the horrendous act while her lover Douglas Owen, carried out the stabbing death.


The Supreme Court rejected three (3) application for a stay of execution.  Pope Francis urged official not to carry out the lethal injection. Gissendaner became the first woman to be executed in Georgia in over seventy (70) years, the previous woman was electrocuted.

Reports surfaced, saying Gissendaner sang Amazing Grace before lethal injection was administered.

Douglas Owens will be eligible for parole in 2022 after taking a plea deal.
